Great stuff. For half a price of more expensive brands. More than enough for any work around the house

The right tool for the right job(s)
I can’t say enough complimentary things about this drill! I purchased it when I began a long-term home renovation project two years ago and have used it extensively since then. To date, it has been used to install numerous fixtures (lights, fans, etc.), drill and assemble custom built shelves, fasten over 2,000 square feet of drywall, fasten cement board for tile floors and backer board for custom showers, and many other tasks.A few specific notes:1. The battery life is great; however, you may notice a bit of a battery drain when performing heavy duty tasks like driving self-tapping screws into backer board (which is extremely dense, so the drill has to work very hard to complete this task). Even when performing this task, I did not find myself running out of battery power in the middle of tasks. I typically charge the battery every few days, but I found myself needing to charge the battery on a nightly or semi-nightly basis (which is still not bad at all) when taxing the drill heavily. I have never needed to purchase a second battery because one charge easily lasts through a full day of consistent use.2. This drill measures up very well against other cordless drills of the same class. When people have helped me to hang drywall and backer board, their drills have not been able to accomplish the tasks as easily as this one. I have handed my drill to other people on numerous occasions so that they could drive screws the rest of the way after their cordless drills could not complete the task.3. There are some natural limitations with this drill, but that is to be expected with a cordless drill. For example, I can use this drill with large hole saw bits; however, it is significantly faster to use my 6 amp corded drill for this work. Similarly, when using a spade bit to drill through multiple 2×4 headers, it is much faster to use a more powerful drill. This drill can do the job, but it will take more time since it is simply not the right tool for that particular job.Summary: If this drill is used for the right tasks and is treated well, it will perform better than many drills that occupy higher price ranges and it will also last for a very long time. I have put this drill through its paces many times over in the last two years and it has never disappointed me.

Good drill for the price, but does not come with drill bits intended for metal (misleading?)
I didn’t have much experience with drills, and ended up being misled by the product description and reviews into thinking I could use the drill bits provided to drill into metal. The drill bits this comes with are “brad point drill bits”, which are not multi-purpose: These are intended specifically for wood. They have a point on the end that prevents drilling into hard material – it will just spin in place without getting anywhere. You technically can manage with these bits, but it takes a long time and is likely unnecessarily dangerous. This is what I did, and how I know it manages metal just fine: I ended up accidentally breaking off the tip of one of my bits, and it drilled through metal pretty easily at that point.I initially thought that the product description was misleading, but taking another look, it just says that the drill *can* be used to drill metal (which is true), not that it includes the hardware necessary for it. However, a response from “STANLEY BLACK+DECKER” in the Q&A explicitly says that it includes bits for metal, which is untrue. I would be willing to believe that’s out of ignorance of the product specifics, rather than malice though.Either way, judging by reviews and Q&A answers, this is definitely a big point of confusion which could have easily been cleared up in either the item description or manual, but wasn’t. This seems like a bad decision for both customers and the manufacturer, since they got a lot of negative reviews from people thinking the drill is too weak to drill through metal. I’d deduct at least one star from that.Apart from that, it’s worked well for me. The battery life seems pretty impressive – I had it sitting unused for years, and the battery still had a charge when I used it. However, initially after that wait I started seeing sparks from inside the vent. The manual says to use compressed air to clean it out regularly, and it had probably accumulated a lot of dust inside, so I’ll take the blame for that. It no longer happened after cleaning it out.
