Game Changer in Efficiency & Error Reduction
This is an amazing product, and a game changer for people who need reasonable accuracy and are trying to reduce human errors.First off: it will not replace my normal tape measure which is always on my belt. But I use it when I need to take a bunch of measurements in a row, scoping out a new project, or for “high consequence” measurements (would cost me more than $50 in money or time if I make a mistake). If it would blow your mind that a measuring tape would require a firmware update, then don’t get this product. Just keep on doing what you’re doing. Also, if you are not comfortable with the fact that it is electronic and you need to fairly often plug it in to charge, then don’t get this product. Those things don’t bother me and there is a lot to really like about this product. It greatly reduces errors and is super efficient. And if you’re one of those people who never makes an error, then don’t get this product. It has a big, bright display, works in all lighting and the e-paper list of measurement on the side is super useful. Its perpendicular laser is very useful and helps reduce errors when aligning things. Before purchasing, I thought the smart phone integration was a gimmick that I would never use. But it is very well designed, and I used it the first day I got it. Intuitive, and powerful. No more writing down numbers, then losing the paper, or mis-reading or incorrectly entering the numbers into a calculator. The Rock smartphone app (while relatively young in it’s life) is pretty darn well designed and useful. My phone is in my pocket, but receiving all the measurements I’m taking, and you can organize by project and sub-project areas.I know all the tricks for doing fractional math, and can do it quickly. However, I end up making mistakes maybe 5% of the time, and this tool eliminates those errors. And wasted time/money in fixing the errors. This tool will not replace a caliper, if you need very high precision. But IMHO it is plenty accurate enough for most construction needs.Plan on spending an hour or two getting yourself familiar with the menus, buttons when you first get it. It’s all very well designed, but like anything new, you should get familiar with it. Practice some with it and you’ll realize the menu system on the tool (which at first might seem janky) is very cleverly designed for efficiency.I’ve only had it for 2 months, but it does seem very durable and well built. Great design for changing tapes when they wear out. It is fairly heavy, so it’s not on my belt all day every day, but it *is* on my belt when I need it.When I first saw this product on a web page, I scoffed and told my wife that I would never spend $250 on a tape measure. But after doing some research, I did, thinking I could just return it if it was a piece of junk. So I get to eat my words. This is one of my favorite products in years.Reekon folks: great job! Looking forward to what else you come up with and/or improvements

THIS WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY
Ok i bought this as I am in construction. This thing has saved me time in many ways. From pulling a no touch measurement using the lazer to finding center at a push of the button, it makes everything faster and makes productivity increase. Also having the ability to make spread sheets by connecting to my computer and having all the measurements go on material lists is amazing. But wait there is more. The app is outstanding. I can have all my cuts saved to the app by job phase and visual representation of what is beimg built and modified.I, like you, have read the reviews and maybe thought oh sounds like too much trouble. The battery lasts all day then the next day as well on a single charge. Configuring this is a breeze and plus its not too heavy. The included holster is perfect for carrying the device. The only thing it needs is a clip for a pencil while doing layouts. Its worth the cost and an amazing inclusion to any tool enthusiasts collection.

    Tomahawk T1 is the best
Great digital tape measure with tons of features. Love the feel of this and the flexibility of doing inside measurements, end of tape measure measurements, finding the center and being able to do relative measurements from any distance. It is expensive but it also comes with an app that is extremely versatile. There are so many advantages with the tape that I bought a second one to take to the job site where we have a dedicated’ cut man’ that will have accurate measurements laid out in order. I can’t say enough good things about this…a real game changer.

Lots to like but also some significant questionable design choices.
The Tomahawk tape measure offers robust features along with some significant usability issues. Here’s my experience:Pros:Durability: Built like a tank, it’s designed to withstand rough handling.Customer Support: Responsive, though only available via email.Innovative Features: Includes multiple functionalities that typically require separate tools, such as a viewable measurement from any angle—a bonus for aging eyes.Cons:Calibration Process: While the tape measure is accurate, achieving this accuracy requires a complex calibration process that can be frustrating and time-consuming.Firmware Updates: The device frequently indicates that a firmware update is available, even after recent updates. But beware. If you apply a firmware update, whether its actually new or just the ever present message that says a firmware update is available, you will be back to step one, which is the calibration process, which isn’t any easier the second time around.Charging System: Lacks a standard USB port on the battery; charging can only be done via a port on the tape measure itself, making the tape measure unusable while charging the battery. Have a second battery, you double this frustration!Battery drain has been improved with firmware updates but you will experience battery drain.Label Printing: The label printer requires the use of a smartphone app, which is impractical for use in conditions like working on scaffolding. Ideally, one should be able to print labels directly from the measure to their printer but the app middleman is a requirement.Despite its solid build and helpful features, the Tomahawk tape measure’s design overlooks practical, real-world use. The calibration and charging systems, in particular, need improvement. I’ve communicated these issues to the company and received a standard acknowledgment but no substantive follow-up.Rating:While the Tomahawk is not a 1-star product, I felt these real world examples wouldn’t be noticed if I gave it a 3 or 4 star review. The mentioned issues might deter some users. This is a real-world review aimed at highlighting the practical aspects of the product.

Well after fiddling with the T1 for a day or so here are my initial impressions and will update this review in a years time. While technically a tape measure, the rest falls into the domain of digital devices and appsLike all digital devices, it is only as good as the software and firmware written for itBluetooth, which is what this device uses is the main avenue of communication, needs to work seamlesslyThat will depend on the quality of your iPhone or iPad or Android deviceBy that, it implies that you will need to have a good comfort level of working with digital devices and computersMany folks do not and therefor I do not recommend this for themThe Rock Jobsite app allows you to receive measurements for your projectThe app is ingeniously layed out for your jobs, be it framing, door jamb and door or window dimensionsYou can input measurements from a plan into your project and lay them out side by side with your live measurements on the go.Another example is if your table saw worker is say setup some 20 ft away in a shed, with the T1 you can measure and send the measurements to the table saw worker as you go.The possibilities are quite impressiveThe T1 Tomahawk is, precise, well thought out and has a huge potential if Reekon decides to pursue this project over a sustained period of time.a few things to note1) make sure your battery is fully charged on the T1 and your app device2) verify the calibration is what you assume it is3) keep both the firmware and software app up to date4) though technically speaking this is a tape measure, it is actually a mini computer/calculator/ digital deviceLike all innovations there have been and will be teething issues that iron themselves out as time goes onAt this moment, it seems well resolved.Yes you need to move the tape to get the T1 to set itself to zeroYes there at times be some lagThe green laser is very helpful for further precision as well as the mini pencil slotThe E paper and functions on the tape measure alone are worth the ticketYes it is expensive, but I see the money spent not only on the device but towards a company that is ” on to something unique and innovative”This T1 Tomahawk to our surprise came with the protective holster. In conclusion we recommend this device IF you are comfortable with digital technology , if not its better to stay analogue and spend your money on a course in carpentry

This might be pricey, but man is it ever a hug timesaver. I’ve found the accuracy to be really good; love the lasers to take offset measurements and the firmness of the tape to be able to make tiny adjustments. Super easy to consistently measure to 1/16th of an inch.

Very disappointed after waiting months only to never have the pleasure of seeing how it operates. Also the quality for the price is a 3/10. Only worth 40% of asking price.

I really wanted to love this thing. For all intents and purposes, this is a great measuring tape. However, at this price point, I demand perfection.-You kind of need to relearn to use a measuring tape. To get an accurate reading you need to push the base of the device to the front (or back) of whatever you are measuring. This just takes a bit of getting used to, and you need to be sure that you are keeping the pressure at the end of the tape for accurate measurements.-The laser is mostly useless, as unless you are holding the tape perfectly square/level/plumb , the laser is not going to be an accurate reference of the tapes measurement beyond less than an inch away.-I think having a dedicated button to switch between front/back measurement would be nice. The menu is easy enough to use, but requires multiple button presses every time you want to do a pretty standard measurement.-I don’t need to always be able to switch between every possible measurement combination. (inch 32/16/feet/decimal/metric etc etc) If I accidently press the mm/inch button, the measuring readout changes and I have to press the button 6 + times to get it back to where I want it.-The magnetic tip has started to grind up against the metal hook on the end of the tape causing it not to move forward or backward to account for an inside or outside measurement, often resulting in inaccuracies when measuring.-The tape should be stiffer to allow for easier projection of the tape over long distances when measuring things that can’t always be hooked. Sure you can put it out a horizontal for 90″, but the tape is so bulky that you often want to have it turned on its side, and on its side the tape will buckle after about 30-40″.I have been looking for a accurate digital tape to use in precision woodworking/marble work and really wanted this to be the solution, but after months of use, this tape just sits in my tool bag as a constant reminder that fancy does not always equal functional.
