Much better than SS-15
I bought the SS-16 to replace a 5 year old SS-15 model. This unit has improved upon some of the negative features of the older model. Here are the improvements:1. Older model would splash all over counter when brewing single serve unless you used a tall travel mug. This model has a flip shelf so that you can use shorter mugs without making a mess or having to hold the cup close to the dispenser while brewing.2. This model has the single serve and regular brew sides reversed. This allows you to pour water into the regular brew side much easier since the larger reservoir opening is on the right side of the machine. On the older model, the larger opening was just to the left of the single serve side making it difficult to pour the water in the reservoir.3. The needle which punctures the k-cup is cone shaped on the newer model with the water opening toward the back of the needle. On the older model, the needle was a small metal cylinder with a hole in the center. The older model would sometimes split the k-cup and cause the grinds to back up in the unit and make a mess. Hopefully, the design of the newer model has fixed that problem. To date, I have not had a k-cup explosion. This remains to be seen.Overall, I like the fact that I can brew a regular pot of coffee or make a single cup using one machine. I like the fact that I am not forced to make a specific number of cups of coffee on the regular brew side. Many combo machines retain water in an internal reservoir and force the user to make a specified number of cups. This machine does not retain any water after brewing. On the regular serve side, you brew as much coffee as there is water in the reservoir. On the single serve side, the water reservoir is removable, so it can be emptied when not in use. Most Keurig machines retain water in an internal reservoir which seems like it can be a breeding ground for mold due to the stagnant water in the machine.I make a full pot of coffee almost every day, and if not, I’ll have a few k-cups instead. I hope I can get 5 years of daily usage out of this machine.

Do not buy!
We enjoy the craft side of this coffee machine. We have had major issues with the pod side. Each time we use it, since the first time, it overflows and grounds get all in the cup of coffee and also all in and around the machine. It is a pain to clean the grounds out of the machine because no parts come out to clean, you just have to wipe inside and around until all the grounds are gone, this is very time consuming. Also when I contacted Cuisinart customer service I do not think their return policy is fair. They want me to cut the cord to the machine, take a picture of this, send back the machine and then wait 2 weeks for the replacement, therefore we would be without a coffee pot for two weeks because they sell a faulty product? If I have to go out and get a new coffee pot I’m going to buy a new one and not waste 200$ on one that doesn’t work well. I asked if they could charge me for the new one, ship it and then refund me when they get my broken one back, so we can use the craft side in the mean time, so we don’t have to be without one. They told me no, and I will have to go without and wait for the replacement. Seems strange, I asked why they operate this way and they responded, “we have alot of fraud and don’t trust customers to return the products”. Well welcome to the world, everyone deals with fraud, unfortunately part of owning a company is making the customer happy and standing behind your product. Very disappointed in this company and the product quality. Do not buy this machine!

Works great, looks great
So far everything works perfectly, I’ve tested the cup and timer for the carafe, all works good. I’m a 2nd time Cuisinart coffee duo user. I had my first one for approximately 10yrs, the heating element for the carafe finally went. One thing i learned early on with my first one that in the beginning exploded the pods like many others have had the experience, I push the pods down until the bottom needle pokes it then I put the top down on it, it worked for 10 years and is worth a try. … however so far I haven’t had to do that with this one. It is a step down from what we had but I love it. Looks good on my counter and all. So I have nothing negative to say. If your pods explode try pushing it all the way down then put lid down it’s worked for me in the past. This one I’ve not had to do that. I just got it yesterday and so far has exceeded my expectations especially in kcup area.

Great purchase
I’ve been using this for about a month and I am happy so far. The carafe is big if we need to make a lot of coffee. But having the option of making one cup only is great, that is the side we use most. The built in filters that comes with each side saves me money from not needing to buy filters and I get to use the same coffee for both sides. No need to buy individual pods, which can add up $$. The water reservoir holds enough for multiple cups and is easy to detach so you can fill it. The instructions are easy to read. The display is very nice and modern. It makes hot and cold coffee and we use both options. The one thing I did not account for is the height of the machine. My cabinet on top does not allow me to fully open the lid on the right side. The machine is too tall and I do not have enough space between the top and bottom cabinets. That was my fault though, as I should have measured. I recommend measuring your space before you buy. You will need about a foot of space between the top of the machine and the top cabinet to fully lift the lid up. This is only an issue for the side of the carafe not the single cup that takes pods. That side works fine as it is a smaller lid that does not take up as much space. That is the only inconvenience I have with this machine. But it is not a reason for me to return it. I feel like happy with this purchase and have gotten compliments on it from family members who visit.

We had a Cusinart coffee maker for about 20 years, used it daily and it lasted that long. Last month, the water tank started leaking, so we had to get a new one. We had a Keurig but it was kinda crowded on the coffee cart, so I sold it and bought this one. So happy with my purchase! It’s easy to use, the single serve has more oz options than the old one and the coffee maker has a bold feature too. I got it for a really good price too! I hope it lasts as long as the last one!

I bought the previous model of this coffee maker in 2021 and it is still brewing without any problem except the “clean” button won’t turn off despite my triple cleaning-which I can live with. I purchased this new model and started using it in May 2025 for my condo which began to leak within a month of use. Research tells me this is a common issue to which Cuisinart instructs to use a q-tip to clean one of the parts…nope, doesn’t work. Well it leaked so bad it blew out the mechanics at the bottom. Opening up the bottom showed wet parts and rust. Very disappointed and would not recommend.Have sent customer service an email as the machine is under warranty, that was a month ago…no response despite a follow up email. Cuisinart?

I had this machine only a few days now and it works great. However I don’t know how it will work in a year from now.

Purchased in May 2025 and began using in June. It is now mid-September 2025 and this machine is non-functional.From the get-go, the pod side made odd noises. Within a month, about one out of every five pod brews wouldn’t brew more than an inch of coffee. Cleaned completely as the videos suggest and descaled. Still not reliable. Then the carafe side started to overflow and leak when it was brewing. Took it all apart and cleaned it again. Now the pod side only displays and E07 error message, regardless of what I have done to try to fix it (as per video troubleshooting).A coffee maker should not need this amount of maintenance within the first three months. Either this was a refurbished model that was advertised as new, or it is a completely non-functional model that Cuisinart should not be selling — especially at a $250+ price tag. Extremely disappointed. I would not recommend anyone purchase this machine!
