Strong, Spacious, and Surprisingly Easy to Assemble
My garage and basement were in dire need of organization, so I picked up this 5-shelf Amazon Basics unit. I was a bit apprehensive about assembly when I saw the tall box, but it turned out to be quite straightforward – no tools required except maybe a rubber mallet (which helps but isn’t absolutely necessary). The shelf comes in parts: poles, plastic connectors, and the metal shelves themselves. The poles are in sections that you stack; the design uses black plastic split sleeves that snap around the poles at whatever height you want each shelf, and then the shelf slides down over them and locks in place. I appreciated the adjustable height feature because it let me customize how much clearance I have between shelves. For example, on one shelf I spaced it taller to fit paint cans and a taller shop vac, and on another shelf I went shorter spacing for toolboxes and smaller items. In under an hour, I had the whole unit up and stable, and I’m no expert – just a patient retiree with some DIY enthusiasm. Once assembled, this rack is solid. Each shelf is rated for up to 350 lbs when weight is evenly distributed, and while I haven’t tested the upper limits, I have loaded some pretty heavy stuff on there. Currently one shelf is holding a mix of heavy power tools (circular saw, bench grinder, etc.) and maybe 200+ lbs combined – and there’s zero sag. The black powder-coated steel looks nice and doesn’t rust (important in my sometimes damp basement). It also comes with adjustable feet so you can level it on uneven floors. My basement floor has a slight slope, so I just twisted one foot a little longer and the wobble was gone. If you plan to really max out the weight or have it free-standing with kids around, you might consider anchoring it to the wall (there are no included brackets for that, but a simple L-bracket would do). In my case, it’s tucked against a wall and even when I shake it, it’s very stable due to the weight on it. One of the best things is how much it decluttered my space. With five full shelves, I managed to get bins of holiday decorations, camping gear, and miscellaneous household tools all up off the floor and neatly organized. It’s amazing how vertical storage can create so much more room. The shelves are wire-style, which is fine for most things – smaller items I put in plastic bins so they don’t tip. One small caution: when assembling, make sure the plastic sleeves are well seated in the little grooves on the poles and that the “top” of each sleeve is aligned at the same groove on all four poles. I made the mistake of having one sleeve slightly higher on one pole initially, and the shelf wouldn’t slide down. A quick adjustment fixed it. Also, use a light tap from a mallet or a piece of wood to ensure each corner of the shelf is fully down on the sleeve, then it’s rock solid. I actually ended up buying a second one of these units after seeing how useful the first was. Now my garage has one too, holding car wash supplies, oil cans, and even a cage fan (the fan I use for drying floor finish, not my wife’s favorite item – but now it’s got a spot!). This shelving unit proves that you don’t need to spend a fortune for strong, dependable storage. It’s functional, no-nonsense, and gets the job done, which is exactly what I needed.

Time to buy two more. (4.95/5 stars)
Several years ago I bought two of these shelves. As you can see from my picture I wanted a place too keep my ever growing collection of games. I finally got rid of the unsightly thing that was next to it which has paved the way for me to get two new shelves. You may be wondering where the second shelf is since the picture only has one.I bought two of them and stacked them together. it cut the shelf space in half, but did leave me with extra posts. I’m now going to buy two more of these and do it again. I really give this shelf system 4.95 out of 5 stars. I a petty person, I’m docking it 1/20th of a point for not being able to buy just the shelf and attaching components. It seem like a waste to get extra posts that i don’t need.So to summarizeEase of movement when assembled: Yes, but you do need to be careful when picking it up, if you hold it wrong the shelfs may come off of the wedges holding them in.Versatility: As has been demonstrated, it is very versatile. you can buy it from Amazon in four or five shelf arrangements, or do as I did, get two units and put them together.Height: I stopped at 4 height rather than the default fifth shelf. I did not want it too top heavy.Build quality: It’s a metal rack, so it can hold quite a bit and does not feel flimsy like other shelfs.Cons: This is a minor con and almost a pro. But the second picture doesn’t depict it well. However, the framing is such that there is a very slight lip around the shelf. This is great, it keeps them from falling out. This is a bigger con because if you stack games and want the bottom game, you end up having to move more games around to get the one you want. If you do stack stuff like games too high, then you have the same problem at the top, the rim of the shelf stick lower and then you have to shift boxes to get it down. But these really a minor con and almost a pro as they won’t easily fall off.So yes, I give this 4.95/5 stars and I am buying two more.

Among the better wire shelves!
Let’s start my being honest here… if you want a metal/ wire shelf kit delivered to your door, expect to touch up some chipped paint. I have had 12 wire shelf kits delivered to make up our pantry storage and my wife’s craft storage, and the last 2 from Amazon Basics have been among the least scuffed. These shelf kits are all shipped overseas and across country to your door, so don’t expect a miracle if you’re buying the budget brands. I got a $15 can of black rustoleum and touched up the scuffs/ chips on several units with a q-tip (don’t use the rustoleum spray, it is garbage for long term protection). I’ve touched up my Amazon Basic shelves and am very happy with the purchase for the price.

Easy assembly, true to size, and sturdy
I purchased this item to hold my abundance of electronics and computer parts. I was limited on space, and this item was true to the listed dimensions. Assembly was relatively easy and quick – the shelf isn’t particularly heavy at around 30 lbs, so most able bodied people are capable of assembly. There are no screws involved, meaning there is no need for a toolkit which I consider a positive attribute. There are adjustable feet that you hand screw into the bottom poles in case your floor is uneven. You CAN adjust the height of each shelf to your preference (see picture), another feature I appreciate. This allows me to fully utilize the storage capacity of the shelf.This shelf was very stable once the feet were correctly adjusted. I am skeptical of the 1750 lb total weight capacity claimed in the listing. The wires on the shelf are not very thick and will bow if I concentrate my weight in a certain spot. For my use, its exactly what I want and I would be willing to purchase again if I needed more storage space.

It’s simple to assemble on your own, the more weight put on it the better. There’s some movement in the unit when assembled but once heavy items are placed it becomes more sturdy.

Super Qualität. Sehr schnell und sehr einfach aufzubauen. Stabil und für den Keller eigentlich zu hochwertig. Aber ich hatte eine Woche zuvor an der falschen Stelle gespart und ein anderes, bei Amazon angebotenes, Schwerlastregal bestellt. Was mir an diesem besser gefiel, war, dass es MDF Platten als Regalböden hatte und keine Gitterroste. Aber der Zusammenbau gestaltete sich derart schwierig, dass ich dann doch auf das Amazon Basic Keller Regale Schwerlastregal zurück gekommen bin. Hier hatte ich vor 2 Jahren schon gute Erfahrungen gemacht, wollte aber sparen. Das hier bewertete Regal ist zwar teurer und hat leider auch kein Eckregal, aber ich kann nur empfehlen sich für dieses Regal zu entscheiden. Es bringt nicht nur Zeitersparnis beim Aufbau, sondern ist insgesamt stabiler, als die preiswerteren Regale mit MDF Platten. Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Und für die Ecklösung habe ich die kleineren quadratischen Varianten gekauft. Die sind zwar etwas niedriger, aber so konnte ich eine U-Form im Keller aufbauen. Um die Stabilität zu gewährleisten und Kippen zu verhindern, sollte man die Regale an der Wand befestigen. Das Material dazu liegt bei. Ich hatte zwei Regale vor zwei Jahren in der Garage gekauft und freistehend, weil ich Holz gelagert habe, Kaminholz. Hier war es nicht nötig, weil das Gewicht des Holzes sehr hoch war und stabilisierend wirkte. Je nachdem, was man in das Regal reinstellen möchte, sollte man die Wandbefestigung nutzen. Zum Beispiel haben wir Putzmittel und Toilettenpapier und Co. für unsere Büroräume in einem der Regale: Das ist zu leicht und würde nach vorne kippen. Hier sollte man auf jeden Fall die Wandbefestigung nutzen, für leichtere Gegenstände in dem Regal. Fazit: sehr gutes, stabiles Regal, sein Geld wert. Und auch für Wohnräume optisch und von der Verarbeitung her sehr gut geeignet.

I am very happy with these shelves. Quality of manufacture is very high. They are light yet very strong. They came together very easily. I didn’t even need to look at the manual. Fit and finish is perfect. I had no trouble with the assembly and they even provided a couple of extra plastic parts in case of loss or damage. Packaging was of a very high-quality. Individual poles were packaged in pairs in plastic so they wouldn’t scratch or be scratched by the shelves in transit. Overall a great product and one that I can recommend without hesitation.
